Joe Dickson spent fourteen years at Whole Foods Market, ultimately as Director of Quality Standards, where he led the team that wrote and maintained the product standards behind the first national certified organic retailer. From 2010 to 2015 he served as the sole retail member of the USDA's National Organic Standards Board, appointed by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and he was a founding board member of the Non-GMO Project. He is a trustee of The Organic Center. At ERRA, Joe is the principal author of the ERRA Standard — its scoring matrix, prohibited-ingredient annex, and laboratory testing requirements.
