Ryland Engelhart co-founded Kiss the Ground in 2013 with Finian Makepeace, a Los Angeles nonprofit that promotes regeneration and healthy soil as a solution to the wellness, water and climate crises. He was a producer of the 2020 Netflix documentary Kiss the Ground. His father and stepmother opened Café Gratitude in San Francisco in 2004; Ryland ran the Los Angeles restaurants and is a co-owner of Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre. In April 2024 he moved from staff and board member to strategic consultant at Kiss the Ground, and he farms at Be Love Farm in Fillmore, California.
